SIZE OF ROSTERS ... with organization for fall, 2013 beginning for some, just a reminder concerning the size of rosters ... 6v6 teams are permitted to carry a roster of twelve players; 8v8 can roster sixteen

RE-SCHEDULING APRIL MATCHES. Any April match that has to be re-scheduled due to spring break or a tournament conflict may be post-played any time during the season. We expect each team to be diligent in trying to re-schedule the match so it is played within a reasonable time, and not put it off to the last week of the season. If any coach believes his/her opponent is not being reasonable in re-scheduling, the 'CUSL Spirit' provides for the Club Representatives to work to resolve the conflict. Only if it cannot be worked out at the club level, should the Boys or Girls Director, as is appropriate, become involved; the Director has the authority to re-schedule the match.

JUST A REMINDER: Any match scheduled to be played after June 09, 2013 has to be re-scheduled and played no later than June 02, 2013 . . . . . . Some matches are scheduled on field ' * ' ... this occurs on some days when there is not enough time to play all matches because too many teams have been assigned by the club to a field. If you are scheduled for one of these matches, it is to be played the day it is scheduled, unless teams agree to pre-play. The home team is responsible to secure a field and referees. If you are in this situation, please begin immediately to get the match correctly scheduled.

TEAM RELEGATION/PROMOTION ...... Section 1.A.7. of the Playing Rules, concerning relegation and promotion, states the last place First Division a team will be relegated to Second, and the first place Second Division team promoted to First. This was written when First Division only had six teams, which is no longer the case, and should have been revised. So, when there are more than six teams in First Division, the last two teams will be relegated to Second, and the first two Second Division teams promoted to First.

GUEST PLAYERS ... Playing rules currently read: A U-08 player may guest on a U-09 team, only ... and, A U-09 player may guest on a U-10 or U-11 team, only. That was poorly written, so to clarify, a U-08 player may guest on a U-08, as well as a U-09 team, only .... and U-9 player may guest on a U-09, U-10, or U-11 team, only. The Playing Rules will be updated, shortly.

6v6 AGES ... Since all 6v6 ages will use the three-man referee system in spring, 2012, the offside rule will be in effect for U-08 and U-09 teams, as well as U-10s

THUNDER/LIGHTNING ... Just a reminder, you should know the protocol when there is thunder and/or lightning at a match, practice, or other team organized event. The Thunder and Lighting Policy link in the Rules Guide is more specific, so please read it, again, but, in part, the policy says ..... 1. Listen for the sound of thunder. If you hear it, suspend the game and clear the field, and have everyone immediately go to a safe shelter .... 2. Watch for lightning. If you see lightning, suspend the game and clear the field, and have everyone immediately go to a safe shelter ..... 3. If you see or hear a thunderstorm coming or your hair stands on end, immediately suspend the game and clear the field, and have everyone immediately go to a safe shelter. Do not wait until it rains.

REPORTING SCORES: The score system has been revised so only the winning team needs to report it, though either can. There was some miscommunication, and the change was made effective before we had an opportunity to revise the instructions … even though only one team can report the score, each team should check to make sure it has been correctly reported … if it is incorrect, the two teams, and their clubs, should work to resolve the difference

The Operations Committee has enacted a rule requiring each team to play its home matches on its club’s field; that is, those fields within the generally acknowledged geographic area in which the club is based, serves, or already has fields ... this rule is intended to address a club accommodating an “independent” team by having it play through it, but permitting the team to play on its own field, rather than the club’s

The Board of Governors has voted to establish 'The Spirit of CUSL' as the policy and procedure for CUSL. This document reflects the standards that were the founding principles of CUSL. You may print a copy of the 'The Spirit of CUSL' from the Rules Guide Section in the navigation area. It is recommended that all members of CUSL read and understand this policy and procedure.

With respect to reporting scores, re-scheduling matches and other web site functions, we want to remind you that each club is responsible for instructing its teams in the use of all web site functions. So when a coach/team contact is in need of help, he/she should first talk to their club representative; and if that is not done, don't be offended when that is what you are told to do by the Boys or Girls Director.
